受傷後皮膚表面為何會留下疤痕？
Why would scars appear?

人體遭受任何種類的創傷後會自然修復皮膚，在癒合過程中會形成疤痕。

受傷流血後，人體血液裡的血小板會幫助止血，形成凝血塊，然後形成血痂（結焦），以保護傷口免遭進一步傷害。由於瘢痕組織生長方向和方式與一般皮膚組織不同，所以就會出現與其他皮膚不同的疤痕。

When skin gets hurt, blood platelets stop the wounds from bleeding and will form blood clots. Surface of the clots dried down to avoid the skin from being hurt again while scar tissues are formed. Scar tissues differ from normal skin tissues, therefore scars appear.

受傷後三至六個月，疤痕組織會進入增生期，不斷增殖。人體會自然在傷口附近增生細小的血管以供應足夠的營養予疤痕組織。這些協助癒合的血管有機會令疤痕發紅凸起，變得十分明顯，有機會感到痕癢或疼痛。
After the happening of injury, usually 3 to 6 months, body produces new collagen fibres around the wound to balance the breakdown of old collagen, which may lead to the appearance of hypertrophic scars. The are red and thick and may be itchy or painful.

色素疤痕
Pigmentation

當皮膚受傷會發炎，發炎後遺下來的色素，稱為炎後色素沉澱，一般而言，色素疤痕可分為偏紅色及偏啡色。
When the skin is injured, inflammation occurs. The pigment left behind after inflammation is known as Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). Generally, pigmented scars can be categorized into two types: reddish and brownish.

凹陷疤痕
Depressed scar

凹陷疤痕是因為皮膚受傷後，組織破壞太嚴重，形成皮膚組織往下拉扯，或者傷口修復期間，自體纖維母細胞所生產的膠原蛋白不足，以致疤痕向下陷。
Atrophic scars (depressed scars) occur when skin tissue is severely damaged, leading to underlying tissue tethering or pulling the skin downward. Alternatively, during the wound healing process, if fibroblasts produce insufficient collagen, the skin fails to fill back up, resulting in a sunken or indented scar.
